At Tweeton Family Chiropractic, we provide chiropractic care for older adults in Washington, Iowa and the surrounding area.
As people age, it is common to experience more stiffness, reduced mobility, arthritis-related joint changes, balance concerns, and general aches and pains that can interfere with daily life. These problems may affect walking, standing, sleeping, household tasks, hobbies, and time with family.
Dr. Dan Tweeton works with older adults using an approach that is adapted to the individual patient’s age, health history, comfort level, and specific needs.
Geriatric chiropractic care is not one-size-fits-all.
Older adults may have different health concerns, mobility limitations, surgical histories, medications, bone density concerns, or arthritis-related changes that need to be considered. Because of this, Dr. Dan will take time to talk with you, evaluate your condition, and explain what type of care may be appropriate.

For many older adults, the goal is not simply to “get adjusted.” The goal is to move better, feel more comfortable, and keep doing the daily activities that matter.
This may include walking, getting in and out of a chair, sleeping more comfortably, doing household tasks, attending church, playing with grandchildren, gardening, shopping, or staying active in the community.
When appropriate, chiropractic care may help support better movement, comfort, and function.

Many older adults have arthritis or age-related joint changes.
Chiropractic care does not reverse arthritis, but in some cases, improving joint motion and reducing surrounding muscle tension may help a person move more comfortably and function better.
Dr. Dan will consider your health history, symptoms, and examination findings before recommending care.
Your comfort and safety are important.
Before care is provided, Dr. Dan will talk with you about your health history, current symptoms, medications, surgeries, falls, bone density concerns, and any other factors that may affect your care.
Treatment may be modified based on your needs. Some older adults may do well with traditional chiropractic adjustments, while others may benefit from gentler techniques, positioning modifications, soft tissue work, or supportive home recommendations.
Your first visit typically includes new patient paperwork, a consultation, an examination, a report of findings, and appropriate treatment depending on your condition and examination findings.
Dr. Dan will talk with you about your concern, review your health history, perform an examination, explain his findings, and discuss whether chiropractic care may be appropriate for your situation.
The first visit usually takes about 30 minutes, although this may vary depending on your condition.
Family members or caregivers are welcome to be involved when appropriate.
If an older adult would like a spouse, adult child, caregiver, or family member to help explain concerns, ask questions, or better understand the care plan, we are happy to include them in the process.

Dr. Dan Tweeton is currently accepting new patients.
